Unite Private Networks Announces Extensive Fiber Network Expansion in Nebraska

Addition of nearly 600 miles of new fiber-optic network

Omaha, NE (October 7, 2014) – Unite Private Networks (UPN) announced a major fiber-optic network expansion today in Nebraska. The nearly 600 mile route will create new diverse metro rings in Omaha, Lincoln, and surrounding communities throughout central and eastern Nebraska.

The network is the result of several anchor customers including macro and small cell deployment projects for a major wireless carrier.

“When the expansion is complete, UPN will have over 2,000 route miles of fiber in the state, giving customers increased access to UPN’s suite of products, including Ethernet, wavelength services, Internet access and dark fiber,” said Jason W. Adkins, Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing at UPN. “In addition, the project will bring over 100 jobs to the region during the construction of the network.”

“The Greater Omaha Chamber commends Unite Private Networks for making this major investment and creating jobs. An investment that strengthens our communications and IT connectivity is positive for our existing businesses as well as our ability to attract new companies to the area,” said Mark Norman, the Greater Omaha Economic Development Partnership’s Senior Director of Client Services.

“We are excited to be able to continue to expand our presence throughout the state,” said Kevin Anderson, UPN Chief Executive Officer. “For the past 16 years, we have been providing high-bandwidth services to customers located throughout the Midwest, with eastern Nebraska being our largest market.”
