Kansas City, MO (February 15, 2011) – Unite Private Networks (UPN) today announced an agreement with Houston County Schools to build a 66 mile fiber-optic communications network throughout much of Warner Robins and Perry, Georgia. Initial customers on the network will include the Houston County School District along with other local customers.
The 10 year agreement for Wide Area Network services with the Houston County School District provides for a significant increase in the bandwidth capacity available to the District.
“Houston Schools has a world class IT department and robust goals to grow their network. The demands required a robust solution with exponential capabilities over their current network. Our unique solution will allow them to grow into the future so bandwidth never again is an obstacle to their goals,” said Rob Oyler, Executive Vice President, Business Development for UPN. “This project will change the way technology is delivered for years to come in Houston County. Every parent should be very proud of the decision Houston County Schools made in choosing this option for the district’s future.”
UPN specializes in providing high-bandwidth, fiber-based communications networks and related services to schools, government, carriers, data centers and enterprise business customers. UPN currently provides service in 14 states, primarily in the Midwest U.S.
“We needed a solution that would provide our school district dedicated and guaranteed bandwidth,” said Sharon Lunceford, Director of IT. “UPN’s design will allow us to not only better utilize our existing technology, but will enable our district to plan and prepare for technology growth in the future. We are very excited about all the possibilities that this type of network will make available for us!”
