Unite Private Networks Completes Construction of Dallas Metro Fiber Network

Begins providing service under long term contract to Dallas Independent School District

Dallas, TX (January 20, 2014) – Unite Private Networks (UPN) recently announced completion of its Dallas metro fiber-optic network and also initiation of 10 Gbps WAN services to the Dallas Independent School District (DISD).  UPN provides high-bandwidth, fiber-based communications networks and related services to school districts, governments, carriers, data centers, hospitals and enterprise businesses across a 20 state service area.

“We are extremely proud to have completed, on-time and on-budget, 400 miles of new fiber network, connecting more than 300 on-net buildings, including all DISD facilities and major data center locations throughout the metro area,” said Chad Senglaub, UPN Chief Operating Officer.

“The nearly unlimited bandwidth provided by fiber-optic facilities allows our services to easily and quickly expand as the needs of customers grow over time,” said Jason Adkins, UPN Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing.  “Most of our customers enter into long-term, fixed-priced contracts that allow them to lock in their future communications costs while providing them with flexible solutions to meet their ever-growing bandwidth requirements.  We provide a suite of products including Ethernet services from 10 Mbps to 100 Gbps, wavelength services, Internet access, dark fiber, and other customized solutions.”

According to Gray Salada, DISD Chief Technology Officer, the network is a key component of the Districts’ technology modernization program creating a state of the art digital environment in the classroom. “The new network provides students and teachers the flexibility and capacity to access digital resources across the globe facilitating research, communications, and collaboration as well as supporting on-line curriculum and assessments.”

Randy Wright, Director of Education Sales at UPN noted that the Unite Private Networks fiber networkprovides 272 DISD facilities withup to 10 Gigabits of bandwidth for each site.  “This network is one of the largest and most robust fiber-optic networks in the United States. The fiber-optic WAN will be more than 20 times faster and far more reliable than what the District previously had in place.  We are happy to support DISD and excited they chose us to be their long-term partner.”

Our portfolio of high-bandwidth services is now available to local enterprise businesses and telecom service providers throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth area,” added Steve Hartman, UPN Vice President of Enterprise Sales. “We are excited to have such an extensive network in the Dallas metro and are ready to be the fiber provider of choice in the area.”
